Who we are
Plot Worth is a free property price search tool available at plotworth.com. It allows anyone to search sold house prices across England and Wales using data from HM Land Registry.
What data we collect
Plot Worth collects very limited data. Specifically:
- Mailchimp — if you sign up for email updates, your email address is stored with Mailchimp, our email marketing provider. Subject to Mailchimp's Privacy Policy.
- Google Analytics data — we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit the site, which pages are viewed, and general usage patterns. This data is aggregated and anonymous. We cannot identify individual users from this data.
- Email address — if you choose to sign up for updates using the form on our homepage, we collect your email address. This is entirely optional. We use this to send occasional property price updates and product news. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.
- Postcode searches — when you search a postcode, that search is sent to our proxy server to retrieve data from HM Land Registry. We do not log or store the postcodes you search.
We do not collect your name, location, IP address, or any other personal information. We do not require you to create an account.
Cookies
Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish between returning and new visitors. These are standard analytics cookies and do not contain personally identifiable information. By using Plot Worth you consent to these cookies being set.
We do not use any advertising, tracking or third-party marketing cookies.
Third party services
Plot Worth uses the following third party services:
- HM Land Registry — all property price data is sourced from the Land Registry Price Paid Dataset, published under the Open Government Licence v3.0. No personal data is sent to Land Registry beyond the postcode you search.
- Postcodes.io — used to convert postcodes to map coordinates when displaying the sales map. No personal data is sent.
- Cloudflare Workers — our proxy server that handles requests to Land Registry. Cloudflare may log request metadata as part of their standard infrastructure, subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
- Google Analytics — anonymous usage analytics, subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Vercel — our hosting provider. Subject to Vercel's Privacy Policy.
How we use data
The anonymous analytics data we collect is used solely to understand how the site is being used and to improve it. For example, understanding which postcode areas are most searched helps us prioritise coverage improvements.
We do not sell, share or transfer any data to third parties for marketing purposes.
Data retention
As we do not collect personal data, there is nothing to retain or delete. Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months by default, after which it is automatically deleted by Google.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct or request deletion of any personal data held about you. As Plot Worth does not collect personal data, these rights are largely not applicable. However if you have any concerns please contact us and we will respond promptly.
Children
Plot Worth is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time, for example if we add new features such as user accounts or email alerts. The date at the top of this page will always reflect when it was last updated. Continued use of Plot Worth after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
